Lost Nation TV is back!

I just wanna do a plug for a good friend of mine, Jack McEnany. Check out his political blog Lost Nation. It’s worth a visit.

Jack’s from Franconia, NH and one of the funniest guys I’ve met. In some ways, he’s like Philip Baruth… but on overdrive. Ironically, Lost Nation has a VDB feel to it too. Call him Baruth’s alter ego.

He just wrote his second book Brush Cat: On Trees, the Wood Economy, and the Most Dangerous Job in America and is about to write his third Who Killed Mick Mars? Jack spent a couple weeks, on tour, with Motley Crue guitarist Mick Mars. Find out more. This will be great.  And then of course, we all know his first book, but I digress.

The point I wanna make is… he’s back blogging.

Go check it out or visit his archives.

Dennis Kucinich to force an impeachment vote today!

I suppose the last thing you want me to write about is another impeachment diary, right? Well this one merits special attention.

Dennis Kucinich is forcing a vote today on articles of impeachment.

Call Nancy Pelosi at (202) 225-0100

Peter Welch at (202) 225-4115

Go to C-SPAN.org for live coverage of and give us some updates. Let us know how the calls go or if you hear any new information.

It may have no shot but it’s nice to see it in the limelight again.

SPREAD THE WORD!

BTW, here’s my latest on Huffington Post:

Snapshots from this year’s “Strolling of the Heifers”

In Pamplona, Spain they have the “Running of the Bulls.” In Brattleboro, we have the “Strolling of the Heifers.” It’s an annual event to promote awareness of the importance of agriculture in our daily lives. It’s been going on for quite a while and it has been one of Vermont’s top-five events for the summer.

Here are some pictures from today’s events. Since this is Brattleboro, expect the unexpected too. Hope you enjoy!

Tonight’s math problem (Update…. NanuqFC wins it all!)

Not sure if you folks “up north” – or in Kestrel’s case, “down southeast”- heard about this. We’re all LOAO and pretty amazed this really happened.

One hundred ten high school seniors from Randolph, NJ rented three Mount Snow condos for a post-prom party last weekend. They travelled by bus with an outrageous amount of alcohol. All of it was confiscated. The Dover, Wilimington, Bellows Falls, and Brattleboro police were all at the scene, including the Vermont State Police and the Windham County Sheriff’s department…. with two dogs. Click here to view the story.

Now back to the math problem. Here’s the “given.”

The Dover Police Department confiscated the following … and I kid you not:

18 half-barrel of kegs (One keg half-barrel of beer= 165 12-ounce cups)

5 cases of beer (24 12-ounce bottles per case)

16 1.75-liter bottles of vodka (946 one-ounce shots)

10 liters of wine (42 8 oz. glasses)

What is the total amount of drinks provided to 110 privileged high school seniors and how many drinks per each privileged senior?

First one to answer this question gets to consume all of it courtesy of the Dover Police Department.

JO….cue “Jeopardy” theme music please? Thank you! – CA

NH Impeachment Resolution Fails, 227-95

Now that’s a landslide.

The NH House of Representatives tabled HR.24, the resolution petitioning Congress to commence impeachment procedures. A motion was made to table the resolution, 227 approved, 95 opposed, the motion carried. WMUR Channel 9 has the obit..

Growing up in New Hampshire most of my life, I’m not surprised it was this lopsided. I knew it would be a uphill battle on all levels. Kudos to Betty Hall, the 95 members of the House who voted for it, and all the organizers who believed.

…. now where is Odum’s big diary I’ve been hearing about??? Sorry…. the peyote’s gotten to my head.

Peter Welch’s Latest Salvo (Update)

(Go going Peter! Keep it up! – promoted by Christian Avard)

The latest from Peter Welch.

Watch out Halliburton/KBR! Peter’s on your tail (no bunny rabbit pun intended)!

Update: Mission accomplished perhaps? Check out the latest, courtesy of Peter Welch’s office:

Bush administration plans to close fraud loophole in response to Welch-initiated investigation

Washington, DC – The Bush administration has retreated in its proposal to exempt overseas contractors from reporting fraud after Rep. Peter Welch (VT-AL) initiated a congressional investigation last month.

Welch first called for the investigation through the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, on which he serves, on March 7, after learning of the loophole.

“This investigation proves why congressional oversight is essential.  Whether through my legislation or a new rule, we will close this multi-billion dollar loophole,” said Welch.  “The question is why it required a congressional investigation to prevent the Bush administration from giving overseas contractors a free pass to defraud taxpayers.  It defies common sense.”

In addition to requesting the investigation, Welch also introduced The “Close the Contractor Fraud Loophole Act,” H.R. 5712, to require all contractors, regardless of where the work is performed, to be subject to fraud reporting requirements.

The Subcommittee on Government Management, Organization, and Procurement will hold a hearing on the investigation initiated by Welch and on Welch’s legislation tomorrow, Tuesday, April 15 at 2:00 p.m.
