I am a protestant christian, but who cares. Our political agenda should not be framed based on any particular religion or religious beliefs. Integrity, morality, humanity, and honesty are not synonymous with evangelicalism or any other religious movement. Religion is a personal choice, and one of our great freedoms is the separation of church and state.
The Republican party’s decline started after being hijacked by the fanatical evangelical right movement. When you interject religious zealotry into politics the result is a movement toward a religious dictatorship or aristocracy, with a focus on personal choice matters that should be left to individuals.
We need to elect people who recognize the need to reduce and limit government in our lives; who understand that our country is on the brink of financial disaster and are willing to cut spending; and most of all, who are honest, moral, have integrity and care for all human beings, regardless of their religious preference.
