GE just announced a new wind turbine design with a possible 24% increase in output. An interesting feature is power storage so that it can feed the grid when the impellers stop turning.
Imagine if we’d started this development in 1974! Instead, friggin’ Reagan ripped Carter’s solar power panels off the White House in 1980 thus starting the stunting of alternative energy for 30 years.

I think industrial wind turbines are too huge for Vermont, personally. I wouldn’t mind so much if they were half the size.
When I read the title, that graphic on BP’s post flashed through my mind, and I thought it would be a good way to re-purpose Tea Party Republicans:
I hope their latest ‘wonder technology’ is more successful than their Mark I boiling water reactors – you know, the ones built in Fukushima and at VY? Batteries are pretty toxic items; wouldn’t it be better to just put turbines in areas that has sufficient demand?
GE has had a lot of nasty products and practices. Ever watch the documentary “Deadly Deception? Among other things it tells of their exploits at their Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in Niskayuna, NY. Not pretty.
Then there was their oversight of Hanford nuke site in WA…
Our local library has a copy of Deadly Deception… it’s enlightening!
but better late than never. Hopefully this will serve to recognize why we need to oppose the rightwing neanderthals when & wherever they are found.
On the average they seem to set us back a generation or two. Not a very good reord imo.
