Memo to Vermont homophobes: yup. You’ve still lost.

The Wildflower Inn, located just a bit north of St. Johnsbury, in scenic Lyndonville, VT, boasts “Four Seasons for Everyone,” has a very nice looking restaurant attached to it, and looks like a pretty cool place to stay if you’re looking for lodging in Northeastern Vermont.

Unless, of course, you’re a pair of lesbians who want to get married:

The American Civil Liberties Union and the ACLU of Vermont filed a lawsuit today against a Vermont resort that refused to host a lesbian couple’s wedding reception…

Oh and by the way: they are no longer hosting weddings.

But they do have contact info:

   (800) 627-8310

   (802) 626-8310

Fax: (802) 626-3039

   Reservations and General Info: info@wildflowerinn.com

   Weddings: weddings@wildflowerinn.com

   Sales: sales@wildflowerinn.com

  1. Oooh, sounds like a good venue to hold a same-sex kiss-in, along with as many straight allies as possible!

  2. Is what I heard on VPR on the way home last night (after reading the Freeps article earlier):

Inn owners, Jim and Mary O’Reilly, issued a statement saying they are devout Catholics and cannot sanction a marriage between a same-sex couple because it goes against their faith.

Does anyone know who exactly is asking them to sanction a marriage? Yeesh.

  3. I suppose they also require all couples to present a marriage license whenever they register to sleep in the same room.   After all, sex outside of marriage is also against their religion.

  4. The Wildflower Inn is no longer hosting weddings or special events. We would like to refer you to the Stepping Stone Spa and their beautiful pavilion. The inn is available for lodging for your special function.

In other words: please don’t be gay where we can see you.

They’ll take your money if they can’t see you being gay, but not if you’re going to be gay in public.

  5. they are a little different, honoring all god’s creatures, and have recently become dog friendly.

shame it can’t be that people can stay and celebrate as easily as their pets.
