CNN’s John King interviews Arnie Gundersen about the Hot Particles discovered in Japan and the US. from Fairewinds Associates on Vimeo.
CNN’s John King and Arnie Gundersen discuss “hot particles” detected in Seattle and Japan, the cozy relationship between Japanese regulator NISA (Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency) and plant owner TEPCO, and changes at the Fukushima accident site since March. John King and Arnie Gundersen also discuss how TEPCO’s acknowledgement today of another error in calculating radiation dose more than doubles the amount of radioactivity to which people in the Northern Hemisphere have been exposed.
“…we’re at a point now where you just can’t run from the particles that are still in the air”
-Arnie Gundersen
On CNN with John King, Arnie Gundersen responds to the news that an error in calculation doubles the dose of radiation recieved in the Northern Hemisphere, as well as the confirmation that reactors 1-3 suffered meltdowns, which should have been obvious to anyone following the story.
The assessment is grim to say the very least.
The discovery & presence of “hot particles”, extremely troubling, its import & significance disturbing, especially for those on the West Coast. That this cannot be measured using conventional devices makes it a serious threat. What’s to say that as the contamination spreads, everyone in its path doesn’t eventually share the same risk, to say nothing of the Japanese people, and more importantly the workers.
Oh, and it’s far from over, and until the fuel pools stop boiling & releasing the radioactive contamination it will continue – Arnie estimates
“…they’re going to need another year or so before it cools down to the point it doesn’t boil anymore…”

Japan Earthquake 2011: Government Doubles Estimate On Leaked Fukushima Radiation

“As the disaster approaches its third month, political wrangling, devastation in other areas caused by the tsunami and earthquake[..]with no end to the problems in sight”.
And when it rains, it nukes. Good one, Stardust. In all this blather from the governments/corporations, I’m reminded of an 80s movie called: Nightbreaker, about a series of 50s A-bomb tests in Nevada (?) in which Army troops were used as guinea pigs–ordered to march toward the mushroom cloud. I remember especially the end of the movie, when radiation-sick soldiers were asked a series of ‘questions’ (debriefing) about how successful they felt their ‘mission’ had been. Ghoulish shit. Perhaps, in a few years (2016–2020?), we’ll have our first ‘nuclear’ mutated candidate for President:
“My fellow Americans. Look at me. I’m healthy as a pig. And look at you. Got rid of that unsightly hair. And you know where your kids are cause they glow in the dark. I feel like I can take down my opponent just with my breath. Radiation means jobs, population control, new kinds of animals, bugs, and crops. And no more obese Americans. And we can say to those enemies of America out there: ‘You can’t hurt us–Been there/Done that!’ So on Tuesday, get out and vote. The forecast is for only moderate fallout throughout election day, with some scattered hot spots. Spacesuits are optional. There may be some delays at some polling places due to body removal, but, hey, they were probably all gonna vote for my opponent anyway. Heh-heh. God less America. And remember, God created radium for a reason.”
