Diebold Voting Machines In Vermont Should Be Audited

Hello GMD Readers,

Among other things, I am director of Vermonters for Voting Integrity.  We are a non-partisan group working to improve the security and reliability of the Diebold voting systems used throughout our state.

One of the main things we have been advocating for years is to audit the machines.  When they are not audited, they are vulnerable to both fraud and computer error, either of which can result in incorrect election results.

As you know, we have a new Secretary of State, and a new opportunity to hopefully improve the security of the voting machines used in Vermont.  I have personally spoken with Secretary Jim Condos and he has expressed his interest in improving the audits that are done on the Diebold machines — something we have been advocating for years.  This is great news!  But right now is a pivotal moment and we need your help to do a small thing that will have a big impact.

URGENT!
Please sign the petition demanding regular audits of the voting machines in Vermont!

If you think the integrity of the election system is important, today I am asking you to do one simple, quick, and painless thing — please sign our petition demanding that Vermont conduct regular and robust audits on the Diebold voting machines.

I am going to submit the petition at the end of this week so it is vital to get all the signatures we can possibly get in the next few days. Your simple action will have a direct effect.  If you’ve already signed, please get one other person (or more) to sign it.

Here is the link where you can take 30 seconds to sign:

  1. Jim Hogue and I went through what the Health Care Is A Human Right folks are going through now, when we tried to get audits attached to the ’04 bill we introduced.  We thought protecting the written paper ballot would be a no-brainer.  Silly us.  The move to ‘corporatize’ the vote.  Why not.  Trump’s probably already met with Diebold reps on next year’s count.

  2. They provide no value, and are prone to error and fraud.

There are non-machine mechanisms for ensuring blind people can vote.
