Yes; the ocean certainly is big and will have a diluting effect, but it isn’t as if all of that contaminated water has been sprinkled evenly over the surface of the entire ocean. It’s been entering pretty fast and furious in one concentrated spot. I’d love to see a scientific simulation of the likely time-frame and course of distribution. The temperature of the entering water must also play a role in the rate and pattern of distribution. Something tells me there are important coastal colonies of marine life being impacted, that play a significant role in the food chain. I would think that these will amplify rather than “dilute” whatever the impact of radiation is.
Any marine biologists out there who can clue us in?
