Donny Osman’s campaign for Vermont Senate has been endorsed by the Waterbury Record!

( – promoted by JDRyan)

Here is what they said:

Finally, we endorse Democrat Donny Osman for the seat vacated by Republican Phil Scott, who’s running for lieutenant governor. Osman, who lives in Plainfield, has a wide range of experience. He was a state representative from 1996 to 2002 and has held a variety of professional and volunteer positions with a wide spectrum of organizations -from Washington County Mental Health to the Vermont state colleges.

We like Osman’s broad experience and his expertise in conflict management and mediation. These skills will serve him well in consensus-building in the Legislature.

  1. Mr. Osman, I’d like you to clarify your position on support of Vt. Home Schoolers relative to remarks you made to me at Warren Kitzmiller’s event for you on Oct. 12.  You talked in your presentation about your support for The Vermont Early Educators United’s campaign, but when I asked you later about giving the same support to Home Schoolers, you said something rather disturbing (and I think, as an old time print reporter, I remember these words exactly), that:”…90% of them are religious fanatics…”  And I replied that I believed 90% of them are good decent Vermonters and that 50% of them are probably atheists or agnostics.  Now, I’m sure you didn’t really give your comment much thought, and I’m sure you don’t really believe that propaganda about Home Schoolers.  There is a move on by the Corporate Reich in this nation to CORPORATISE public education.  We see it throughout this state and throughout the nation in cuts to school budgets, consolidations, cops in schools, property tax issues, etc..  Corporate America sees BIG MONEY in doing education on the cheap, and making it harder for people to Home School is part of the plan to turn Education into another COMPANY STORE.  As far as I’m concerned, Home Schooling should be supported with the same energy and resources we use to protect our public schools.

And I’m sure you agree with that.  (Unless you don’t)  So, ball’s in your court and you’re in the 3 point zone.

  2. The Stowe Reporter endorsed Shumlin too.  That is probably a first in decades as they usually lean GOP.  I did not see if the Record endorse Shumlin, but did see it about Donny Osman, which is great.  The reporter and the record publish together.  Shum certainly has much momentum going.
