I’m not out to berate anyone here, but there’s something I’ve got to say, and if people take offense at it, I’m fine with that.
I’ve seen some statements here over the past week which boil down to “I can’t believe these poll results! It looks like [Dubie/Salmon/Scott] will win this thing. How the hell can that happen?”
The answer to that question is actually quite simple: it will happen if you let it. The outcomes of elections are not determined by politicians. They are not determined by polls. They are determined by votes.
So here’s my question to the naysayers and those who are afraid that Dubie will win this thing: what are you going to do about it? What steps will you be taking over the next few weeks to help keep Dubie out of the Governor’s office? What will you do to support Doug Hoffer?
There’s a lot going on that you can do.
We have choices here, and we can approach this from a position of fear. Or we can work towards changing things.
What’s your choice?
You just ID’d one of my biggest pet peeves.
ENGAGE, DAMMIT!
GOTV! GOTV! GOTV!
Sure it’s inconvenient to knock on doors, make phone calls, and stuff envelopes, but it also WORKS.
Please folks, do what you can. If every person who reads this blog spent one hour between now and November 2 to help one or more candidates, it could easily swing the election.
And BTW – VOTE and get your friends and family to vote. Don’t let them cop out on the election!
If Nov. 2 won’t work for them, encourage them to get to town hall and vote early on a day that does work for them!
Even though I’m not a Democrat, Sam and I will be out at the big Friday honk-n-waves at Exit 19 for the duration. I’ve decided that my independent friends have pushed the Overton Window enough and I appreciate their running, so now that we are too close to have Dubious in office, I’m visibly supporting Shummy and will vote for him.
I’ll note on other thing that pushed me to Peter’s camp was his “stunt” confrontation at Dubie’s HQ the other day. Being one who has engaged in guerrilla theater as a form of non-violent protest and persuasion, I really appreciated his stepping out from behind his surrogates, the debate podiums, and the usually accepted forms of political staging. He ain’t taking Dubious’ bullshit, which is refreshing to see from a Democratic candidate.
We have an excellent slate of engaged and caring Democrats running in this election.
WE need to get out an “sing it from the roof-tops” because if WE don’t we will indeed suffer the consequences.
The out-of-staters running the Dubious campaign have NO clue regarding Vermonters.
Thank you Peter, Steve, Jim, and Doug and every Democrat running for political office….the least we can do is get as many people as possible out to VOTE!
VT DEMS for VICTORY!
For my Facebook friends who live in Vermont…Did you know that you can vote anytime between now and November 2? It is called Early Voting. You can go to your Town Clerk’s office anytime the office is open and vote there, or pick up a ballot and mail it back. OR you can call your Town Clerk and request that a ballot… be mailed to you and mail it back.
It’s that easy. No excuses – VOTE!
Also consider having 1 or more “Voting Buddies” who YOU make sure vote in this election.
This is a critically important election not only about who is our next Governor but who is put in charge of all the agencies in State government. Which agencies are you connected with? What policies are important to you?
VOTE!
Add the comment “done” when you vote, please.

Thanks to Julie for this post. We do have choices.
The difference will be GOTV. Please tell your friends, family and neighbors to get involved. Vermont cannot afford a Dubie win! We can do this but we ALL have to pitch in.
Go here to get involved:

We have organizers and offices in every corner of the state.
Peter, Steve, Jim and Doug need your help!
See at the finish line,
