“The other side will figure out their opponent” said Brian Dubie

[UPDATE: AARP gubernatorial debate set for tonight has been POSTPONED to Sept. 26, according to the Associated Press.]

Brian Dubie gets a few more days summer vacation and maybe the time to realize that the other side has already figured out its opponent.

“You know what I talked about this morning? I did the final edits on my 10-point jobs plan that I look forward to discussing ,” Dubie said. “The other side will figure out their opponent and when they do I look forward to the debate that will happen.” Times-Argus

Labor Day and September is looking us in the face and Dubie is still polishing his jobs plan.

It reportedly has 10 points, which by now must be quite well polished and edited. He had time to polish in June. He was reportedly polishing in July. He continued polishing in August and reports indicate he will to polish into September.

We all look forward to seeing his ten point plan.

Those potentially awkward debates will have to wait too. The close democratic primary results have put the debates front and center into prime election period. Debate shy Dubie had scheduled his first debate with the democratic candidate this Thursday. This delay may increase the potential statewide audience and importance of a forum he is noted for being weak in.  It will shine the spotlight on a part time Lt. Gov. with a history of phoning it in.

  1. Once again, our Lite-Guv wows us with his rhetorical brilliance, his theatrical turns of phrase.

“…my 10-point jobs plan that I look forward to discussing…”  “…the debate that will happen.”

It’s almost Obama-like. How can we hope to defeat such an eloquent speaker?

Also, he’s just now finishing his 10-point jobs plan? When his ad campaign has been yammering endlessly about getting the economy moving again? And he’s occupied a completely undemanding office for the last eight years? I’d thought he would have polished off his 10-point jobs plan long ago.

Especially since any one of us could probably tick off the 10 points in our sleep: cut the tax burden, Act 250 permit reform, keep utility costs down by renewing the VY license, yada yada, the same stuff Douglas has been pushing for years. So, Brian: what have you been doing all summer?

  2. Am nervous about this deadlock.  We should be taking Dubie head on and not wallowing around in re-counts.  Plus the demos have to go about raising so much money once again while Dubie can just sit back and laugh

  3. Dubie will only be as good as his handlers, but they can’t stick their hand  up his back during a debate. Check for tiny ear devices on Dubie too.

  4. Need to hammer hammer hammer that Mr. Dubie has been co-piloting this state for 8 years.

What has he done? Where has he been?

Blaming the legislature for everything will only stick for so long, and it can only go so far.

A pilot can’t blame the flight attendants and airline staff and passengers for landing on the wrong runway or at the wrong airport.

We need to hammer hammer hammer that Mr. Dubie has brought little substance to his job, and that for 8 years he sat side by side Mr. Jim piloting us along while they dismantled air traffic control and failed to get its technology up and running across the state, downsized the runways, cut out the services to their passengers, started chargning to use the restrooms (if they didn’t already close them), forced attendants to jump out mid flight with no golden parachutes, and outsourced plenty of good work to out of state consultants and companies – all the while fueling up on VT Yankee while ignoring serious environmental concerns and wasting time chasing lawsuits against folks who compost food waste into soil while our lake is dying and god know’s what is leaking into our air and water along the Connecticut.

This is all based on smaller goverment, lower taxes for the wealthy, being buddy buddy with big business (many out of state?) and stripping services from Vermonters who need it most.

Government is a construct of the people. Its a way of sharing burdens that are too big or unwieldy for any single person or company or small group to tackle alone. Please, if we need to keep downsizing government – I suggest we start with Mr. Dubie making an example for us and stepping  aside, letting someone who believes that government can and should work take the wheel for a bit.

If Deb, Peter, Doug and Matt work together and pledge to take the fight to Dubie and the GOP regardless of who wins the official count / recount / etc… we can move this process forward starting today.

We know who the opponent is. Brian doesn’t, just yet.

He’ll have to spend the fall polishing his 10 point plan to defeat the eventual official nominee 😉 – so lets get on it and get it moving candidates. Put your money and hearts where your mouth is. Act like a leader, regardless of who gets the official nod and take the fight to the street for all those Vermonters who voted for you, and need leadership and vision to get back to work, bring stability back to their state, repair our educational system, put our government back to work for Vermonters, and encouraging smart, local, development that will lead us into a sustainable future that can be a model for other states and cities worldwide.

  5. The TV show Mythbusters proved that one can indeed polish a turd to a shine.

Dubious has been polishing all summer long alright, polishing his turds.
