A Pilot From Essex

(Promoted for the usual reasons – promoted by JulieWaters)

In order to beat Brian Dubie this November, we need a candidate who has the trust of Vermonters and can bring people from all backgrounds together to move the state forward.

Over the past few weeks our campaign has been gaining support from a wide range of Vermonters and every day new people from unlikely places have been stepping forward to explain why they are backing our movement.

Our grassroots volunteers released a video today highlighting one supporter in particular who has a unique background. Watch it below or by clicking here.

Throughout my career I have been focused on delivering results to Vermonters. Whether it's my work with Vermont's Veterans or my focus on economic development, I know what it takes to bring people together regardless of their background.

As Governor, my focus will always be on the people of Vermont. I'm excited to use this broad range of support to beat Brian Dubie in November and to join people together to move our state into a new era.

  1. We’re in a mess because we chose leaders who went against age old wisdom. We need to talk about accountability for that mess. The other side is working hard to shift blame from themselves, and, until we correct the big picture, our efforts here will be overwhelmed by the national mess.

  2. Quite some production values you’ve got there, Matt!

I know you’re not talking about it here, but one thing that troubles me a bit is your conviction that “cloud computing” is the way to go for public data management.   I would first like to see a carefully monitored pilot program introduced on an extremely limited basis, governing the least sensitive area of  public information.  Such a pilot program should be allowed to run for several years, and independently evaluated, before any decision is made as to whether or not to expand it.

There is absolutely no question that the web has tremendous potential to streamline public services, but it would be naive not to recognize that, if mismanaged, it could also represent a significant threat to privacy and personal liberty. As we anxiously (and rather helplessly) await decisions affecting net-neutrality that have already been surrendered to corporate interests, it behooves us to regard the gift horse of cloud computing with a degree of skepticism before we jump on board and gallop away.

  3. I followed the link you provided to your campaign page on Veterans’ issues.  That page stated you had sponsored bills on a Veterans’ license plate and State hiring preferences.  Could you point me in the right direction to find the bill on hiring preferences your site referred to?  Using the Legislature’s online resources the only bill I can seem to find from that period on veterans’ hiring preferences is H.0115 sponsored by Partridge of Windham and Weiss of Northfield.  It is always possible that I am looking in the wrong place, so any additional information would be appreciated.
