Dubie Ducks Forum and Counting

After saying he would attend, he has now ducked another one. To date, in this campaign cycle it was his closest shave yet with actually having to attend a debate.

Dubie campaign manager Corry Bliss said it was a tough decision, but Dubie canceled his anticipated appearance at a forum put on by Barre town seventh- and eighth-graders. Dubie promised his daughter he would visit colleges with her.

He will be absent from the Senate that day as well, Bliss said.

Many voters were looking forward to Brian Dubie courageously engaging in the hurly-burly of the gubernatorial campaign and taking questions from seventh and eighth grade students at the up coming candidate debate in Barre.  But sadly the event will be held sans Dubie, leaving the Democratic candidates and students to fend for themselves.

Family comes first of course, but this coupled with his past record of ducking debates could feed the image of a less than engaged co-pilot campaigner.

‘Take the controls Brian!  Eh Brian…Brian?

Huh, he was here a moment ago!’

  1. Brians campaign is happy to report that Doobage successfully navigated the always tough nursery school q and a circuit and he’s close to being ready to take questions from the kids who sit at the green table. Brian knows how much a pint of milk costs and the sound a cow makes.

  2. I know that you gotta laugh to keep it real, but I guess I’ll be the wet blanket on this one…while you are sniggering about Brian being a scardey-cat, he is laughing at us: 1) all the way to the bank and 2) all the way to the Gov’s office!  It’s precisely because he is ducking debates that Mr. Blank-slate-nice-Teflon-guy leads in all the polls and could very well win.  Let’s not be smug or complacent and think that this is going to hurt his campaign.

  3. This was a particularly awkward way for his campaign to handle this, first the yes then no.

Wonder who made the promise Brian can’t keep?

His campaign manager Corry Bliss worked an aggressive effort in Virginia for arch conservative Bob McDonnell maybe he is having trouble getting his man out of the gate here in Vermont or sensibly unwilling to risk it.

I watched Lite Gov. Dubie attempt to manage the floor debate at the Vt.Senate debate on VY and he demonstrated a complete unease with a process he has been involved in for eight years.
