Two more medals for Vermont!

Former gold medalists both, 23 year old Hannah Teter of Belmont took the Silver Medal and 26 year old Kelly Clark of West Dover took the Bronze in the Women’s Halfpipe Snowboarding competition at the Vancouver Olympics. Congratulations!

That makes three medals for Vermont (a matched set, in fact – Bronze, Silver and Hannah Kearney’s Gold in the moguls).

So let’s see… whats that in medalers per capita for the state… 1 in 208,000? C’mon, that’s just gotta blow the other states away.

  1. Not only because Hannah Teter was born on the same day as my son Adam. She gives a whole lot of her winnings to charity, she’s adopted a village in Africa, she has created charitable fundraisers from maple syrup to underwear, and she actually goes to the places she helps.

    Go, Hannah!

  2. This was the scene tonight at TC’s, the restaurant owned by Kelly Clark’s family. The staff painted “Go Kelly” across their chests. It was a wild scene and Green Mountain Daily’s favorite TV station, WCAX, reported live from TCs for the 11 o’clock news.

  3. Couple thoughts

The medal total will skyrocket if you include the hockey teams later as individuals.

We should include guys who went to UVM (Tim Thomas, et.al.)

Can’t count Utah because Park City is the home of the US Ski Team – some of our people now claim it as home.

    Once a Vermonter …

  4. the woman who was …..well, let me say the crazy athlete since it is skeleton she is doing…  who is from Canada who finished 5th in place of the expected 1st, was pretty revealing in terms of the difference in our countries to some extent…

She related that she felt she had let down her COUNTRY.  Appropriate tear running down her face.

Our folks may say the same thing, but the letter they get registering dismay is probably from NIKE…  Now that they dont have Tiger to push down our throats anymore they have lots of money for postage…

Money has destroyed sports, but in the cereal box way.  Keep in mind I am not talking about Professional sports here…. getting 8 million to throw a baseball 300 times a year is just obscene…
