The levels of tritium being found in some of the wells is high enough to be straight from the reactor vessel … correct?
If the water being tested with that high of a tritium level is coming from the containment vessel, wouldn’t there be other radioactive ingredients?
All we keep hearing about is tritium … is this because nobody is testing for anything else? Is this because we’re still being lied to? Am I wrong in where I’m going with this??

I believe it is too early to tell if the water contains only tritium. Tritium by itself in such huge quantities is bad enough without the additional concern that the tritiated water may also contain other radioactive isotopes.
Tritium is routinely released from the stack in Boiling Water Reactors. In some of the cases on which I have worked as a nuclear safety and engineering paralegal, it has been daunting to learn that some nuclear power plants actually have no idea what they are releasing when. We found bogus computer programs and inaccurate reporting to NRC. None of the experts with whom I sometimes work have conducted such an assessment of Yankee. I do not know if the health department is adding all the releases together for a final amount of body burden.
Much of the nuclear industry maintains that there is no real threat from tritium, but new science proves that it crosses the placental barrier, stays in the body longer than originally believed and concentrates in body organs. Thus states like California and Colorado and the province of Ontario have passed laws limiting the amount of tritium in drinking water to 400 pCi/L in California and 500 pCi/L in Colorado & Ontario, whereas EPA says 20,000 and NRC says 30,000 pCi/L.
