Shumlin on HR676

Shumlin's argument is mired with fallacies. He says that Nader needs to "stop dreaming" and realize that HR 676 is not the most effective way to improve health care. But, if supporting HR 676 is such a bad strategy, why did Bernie Sanders co-sponser it, along with 88 other reps when he was in the house.
Really, it is comments like this that make the Democrats such a woeful opposition party, so much of the time.

And it is probably past the point where peaceful demonstrations, sit-ins, civil disobedience and the like will do much either.

Publican?

In Roman Judea, publicans were Jews who collected taxes from their own people for the Romans, sucking their own people dry to line their own pockets. Certainly an apt description of the modern con politician.
In Medieval England, the word came to mean a person running a public house or bar.
Pimps were called publicans, too.

What Revolution?

Jesus Christ, Michael, next you'll be in a Warren Beatty produced movie called "RADS" (get a good female co-star). Remember the SIXTIES and how all things hip and radical had been co-opted by the establishment by the early seventies? It naturally follows that Corporate America wants to invite bloggers to "work within the system to change it." They see the threat, so they want to diffuse it. But also they see the MONEY to be made from a co-opted blogosphere. It's the same old shit--the real enemy is the unchecked Capitalist Monster that gobbles up everything. So, that's the Monster we're dealing with when bloggers are invited to be insiders; we've bought into so much of the Capitalist Agenda, they figure we'll hand it over, so they can charge 'fees' for critical thought. Hey, there's money in everything. This might be the new freedom-of-speech/civil rights/ECONOMIC issue of the near future. I know you will never give in, so at least we'll have one 'free blog'--that is, when you're not out f'n' around in the woods like some kind of commune hippie.
As for Obama:
Thank fucking God we've got a young black dude who knows about single-parenting; who has kids growing up wanting to go to college; who will be PRESIDENT when vacancies come up on the Supreme Court; who isn't a goddamn ex-military type; who will be able to start the enormous amount of shit-work needed to free us from the Monster; who will be able to grant PARDONS to people like Leonard Peltier (and maybe even you); who isn't over 70 fucking years old and cares only about how to help the other old fuckers acquire even more so they can be fucking buried with it...sigh...and who has promised the rest of the world Americans are going to stop being ASSHOLES; etc....................................................
...I could go on and on...but all this blogging makes me want to go out and 'buy products'--TAKE OVER.
