The AOT story gets deeper

A couple days ago I wrote about AOT contract recipient flacking for Dubie and getting paid by the state while doing so.

I just got this e-mail from someone who would like to remain anonymous.  I consider this to be a well trusted source whom I’m sure knows extremely well that to feed me false info would be a huge mistake, so I’m taking this as fact until proven otherwise.  Among the information included were the facts that:

  1. Dubie has taken at least $9,593 from Debra Ricker, her husband and their businesses;
  2. The Rickers’ businesses have been awarded six contracts to do road work for the Agency of Transportation since Jan. 2009, for a total of $2,314,897 in contract money;
  3. Governor Douglas appointed Debra Ricker to the Council of Economic Advisers;
  4. Governor Douglas appointed William Ricker to the Public Oversight Commission.

I offer the the following:

Dubie… hit Shumlin again when asked about an issue in the news Tuesday morning: that Shumlin had appointed supporter David Blittersdorf to the state’s Clean Energy Development Fund board, which went on to award Blittersdorf more than $4 million in tax credits for solar projects. Dubie said Shumlin should return the $8,000 that Blittersdorf and various companies he’s associated with contributed to Shumlin’s campaign.

Shumlin asked Blittserdorf to resign from that board, and he did.  Did Dubie ask the Rickers to resign from their seats of power?  Did Dubie think that he should return their money?

In one case, we have a Democrat who asked a man to resign from a board in order to avoid conflict of interest.  On the other hand, we have a Republican who is being actively supported by someone who benefits directly from his administration and hasn’t said a word about it.

Is it any surprise that no one is covering this but us?

  1. Phil Scott has served on the Transportation Committee in the Senate. Was he even committee chair at some point? Phil Scott is also co-owner of Dubois Construction – an excavation company that is often visible doing transporation-related infrastructure projects in Montpelier – with Phil Scott for Lt. Governor signs hanging from most all of its heavy equipment.

    Ballotpedia (part of “WikiProject Vermont, a WikiProject dedicated to articles related to Vermont – part of WikiProject State Legislatures, a WikiProject dedicated to articles related to state legislatures”) says that Debra Ricker donated almost $1,000 to Phil Scott’s 2008 campaign for Senate.

    Campaign donors

    2008

    Scott raised $18,018 for the 2008 election.

    His major contributors are listed below.[3]

    Donor  Amount

    Maplewood, Ltd.  $1,000

    Bates & Murray  $1,000

    Superior Development, Ltd.  $1,000

    Shamrock Associates  $1,000

    Lamberton Electric  $1,000

    Debra Ricker  $943

    Jet Service Envelope Co.  $912

    So I’m wondering if taxpayer dollars are funding any Dubois Construction contracts.

  2. and great story. Douglas administration as well as Dubie  have got to be the sleaziest & most crooked regime in VT history.

    Douglas has done a great job of spending nearly a half million a year on those who basically operate as a private pr firm, hence the lack of press coverage his antics have gotten.

    I see a source was comfortable going to an approachable journalist but not print (so far). I have seen things but do not bother w/the high & mighty print media since they write what they feel like writing.

    Yes, you are indeed correct. Msm all asleep @ the wheel. Green Revolution in Iran recieved little to no coverage in msm. It was all done by citizen journalists via tweeting the pictures & activities to a few live bloggers until they suddenly ‘disappeared’, w/more to take their places.

    Errors abound, typos galore. What’s up w/the editors?

    Print is simply not doing its job & failed to reinvent itself to become viable so small wonder circulation numbers dropping like a rock.

    Herald nor anyone else report local news for Windsor Cty, Herald does not report for Windham CTY though Barney Crosier, head of southern was based in Bellows Falls. (Eagle doesn’t count-they have a credit line courtesy of the state of NH) So local government goings-on are able to take place w/o being brought to daylight. Susan certainly cannot be everywhere & does a great job.

    Banner & Reformer covers their Cty’s local, I will give them that. Reformer somewhat dropped the ball re VY & have had several stories which were poorly done. Audette does a pretty good job for the most part.

    In today’s Reformer “DPS” errantly called “PSB”. Months ago, they or Topix called “NRC” “NEC” or vice versa-huge difference.

    Stunning examples of shoddy work. This would in fact be breaking news since PSB is currently deliberating removing VY CPG & have not been authorized by legislature to even issue another CPG, so this would mean they overrode the senate vote or ruled on current docket.

    The biggest stories are not being reported. Collusion between Entergy, DPS & D’OH! was reported but practically ignored. VT AG should be investigating Douglas administration & appointees. Complicity criminal, or should be.

    The biggest story of all is also being ignored, the fact that Entergy has always claimed it still has many options for achieving the identical results of Enexus by circumventing state gov’ts & regulatory boards which would strand those states as well as VT. NY was on it, either VT isn’t or keeping it quiet. Everyone thinks it is not an issue b/c NY & VT have ‘ruled’.

    Entergy just keeping it on the down-low until hopefully relicensed.
